Juventus signs Nick Woltemade on loan from Newcastle United
Juventus has officially completed the signing of German striker Nick Woltemade on a season-long loan from Newcastle United. The deal, finalized on transfer deadline day, includes a reported loan fee of approximately £3.5 million, with Juventus covering the player's wages. The agreement does not include an option or obligation for Juventus to purchase the 24-year-old permanently.
Woltemade, who stands 1.98 meters tall, joins the Italian side to bolster their attacking options following the departure of Jonathan David to Atletico Madrid. The move comes after a challenging period for the striker at Newcastle, where he struggled to secure a regular starting position under managers Eddie Howe and Matthias Jaissle, despite a record-breaking £69 million transfer from VfB Stuttgart the previous summer.
Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti aims to use Woltemade's physical presence and technical ability to strengthen a frontline that has already seen significant changes. The striker will compete for playing time alongside other recent arrivals like Randal Kolo Muani.
