JVA Meisenhof prison offers guided tours in Castrop-Rauxel
The JVA Meisenhof prison in Castrop-Rauxel is offering two upcoming guided tours to provide insight into daily life within an open prison facility. The tours are scheduled for August 18 and September 2, starting at 3:00 PM and lasting approximately two and a half hours.
As part of the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the city of Castrop-Rauxel, these tours will allow participants to visit selected areas of the institution. Staff members will explain daily operations, focusing on security and prisoner resocialization. The facility operates as an open prison, where inmates have relatively free movement within the grounds under specific rules and controls.
Admission is free, but participation is restricted to individuals aged 18 and older. Prior registration is required by August 17 via email.
