JVP delegation visits India under BJP’s ‘Know BJP’ programme
A five-member delegation from Sri Lanka’s Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), led by General Secretary Tilvin Silva, is conducting a visit to India under the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) ‘Know BJP’ programme. The initiative, hosted by the BJP’s Foreign Affairs Department, aims to foster international outreach and strengthen political engagement between the ruling Indian party and regional political organizations.
During discussions in New Delhi on September 27, BJP politician Vanathi Srinivasan and Vijay Chauthaiwale met with the delegation. The talks addressed several bilateral issues, including cooperation between Sri Lanka and India, refugee resettlement, and concerns regarding Indian fishermen.
The JVP delegation includes several high-ranking members, such as Chandrika Adhikari, MP Aboobucker Athambawa, Kabilan Sundaramoorthy, and Kalpana Madhubhashini. The visit, which is scheduled to continue until October 1, is expected to include meetings with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and BJP National President Nitin Nabin.
