JW Marriott to transform historic Kraków PKO building

The historic PKO building in Kraków, a neoclassical landmark designed by architect Adolf Szyszko-Bohusz in 1925, is being transformed into a luxury JW Marriott hotel. The renovation project, which began in September 2025, aims to create approximately 120 rooms, a SPA zone with a pool, a restaurant, and an exhibition dedicated to the building's history. As part of the restoration, a war-damaged eagle icon is set to be returned to the facade. The hotel is expected to open between late 2026 and 2027.

This project is part of the expanding hospitality segment of J. W. Construction. In 2025, the company's hotel, aparthotel, and gastronomy division generated 127.2 million PLN in revenue and 13.8 million PLN in operating profit, surpassing the performance of its core developer segment. The group currently operates five hotels and one aparthotel, including the Varsovia Apartamenty in Warsaw and Czarny Potok Resort SPA & Conference in Krynicy-Zdrój. The company plans further expansion with new Marriott-branded properties in Kraków and Jachrance.
