JX Metals to increase titanium copper production capacity by 50%

JX Metals has announced a major investment to expand the production capacity of titanium copper, aiming for a 50% increase by fiscal year 2029 compared to 2026 levels. This move is driven by the rapid expansion of AI data centers, which require high-performance connectors capable of maintaining strength and reliability in high-temperature environments.

The expansion will occur at two key locations. The Kurami Plant in Kanagawa Prefecture will receive new heat treatment equipment to resolve current production bottlenecks. Additionally, Muroran Copper Alloy, a joint venture with Japan Steel Works, will implement new melting and casting equipment to strengthen the supply chain and enhance business continuity planning.

Beyond meeting the demand from generative AI servers, the company anticipates growth in the robotics and mobility sectors. JX Metals is also promoting sustainable production by offering titanium copper made from 100% recycled raw materials, utilizing proprietary technology to maintain high performance while reducing environmental impact.
