Jyothi Surekha Vennam focuses on process ahead of Asian Games

Indian archer Jyothi Surekha Vennam is preparing for the upcoming Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, emphasizing a mental strategy of focusing on her shooting process rather than chasing specific scores or results. Vennam, a triple gold medalist from the 2022 Hangzhou Games, is entering her fourth Asian Games appearance.

As part of a new-look Indian archery squad, Vennam will compete in the women’s compound team alongside Parneet Kaur, Chikitha Taniparthi, and Prithika Pradeep. The team has been undergoing national training camps and is scheduled to travel to Japan for a 10-day pre-games training session before entering the Asian Games village.

Vennam noted that she aims to avoid the pressure of her past achievements by focusing on execution and self-confidence. With compound archery set for an Olympic debut, she remains a prominent figure in the sport as India prepares for the continental competition starting September 19.
