JYSK to invest €60 million to open 120 stores in Portugal and Spain
Danish home‑furnishings retailer JYSK announced a €60 million investment to expand its Iberian presence over the next four years. The plan calls for 120 new stores – about 30 per year – with Spain slated to receive the bulk of the openings (80‑100 stores) and Portugal targeting a 50 % increase in its network. The retailer already operates almost 230 stores across Portugal and Spain, having entered the markets in 2009 and 2016 respectively.
The expansion will feature a flexible format suited to city centres, retail parks and medium‑sized towns, each offering more than 2,000 product references and integrated online services such as home delivery and click‑and‑collect. JYSK estimates the project will create roughly 1,200 direct jobs, about ten per new outlet, and aims to bring its Danish‑style home‑furnishing range to a larger share of Iberian consumers.
