Józef Zborek speaks out after removal as Grojec parish priest
Father Józef Zborek, the former parish priest of St. Lawrence in Grojec, has broken his silence following his removal from office. In a telephone interview, Zborek declined to provide specific details regarding the reasons for his dismissal, stating only that ‘everything will be clear at the appropriate time.’
The Diocese of Bielsko-Żywiecka announced that Zborek was removed due to ‘proven and serious irregularities in the performance of his duties.’ Bishop Roman Pindel characterized the situation as a ‘serious canonical crime.’ The decision was reportedly confirmed by the Apostolic Signatura, the highest ecclesiastical court.
The removal has caused significant local unrest. Parishioners previously protested the decision, leading to tense confrontations that required police intervention and the presence of negotiators from Kraków to escort the Bishop from the church. While the Diocese has cited privacy protections to withhold specific details, Zborek has indicated he intends to provide explanations in the future.
