K. Annamalai alleges corruption among Tamil Nadu TVK ministers

K. Annamalai, founder of the ‘We The Leaders’ movement and former Tamil Nadu BJP president, has leveled corruption allegations against ministers in the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) administration. Speaking at an event in Chennai, Annamalai claimed that certain ministers are demanding commissions of 2% to 4% from contractors regarding government tenders. He stated that these individuals allegedly justify the kickbacks by citing expenses incurred during recent assembly elections. While Annamalai did not name specific ministers or release the audio recordings he claims substantiate these claims, he urged Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay to monitor his cabinet and officials closely to prevent corruption from becoming entrenched.

In a separate matter, Annamalai addressed the contentious Mekedatu dam project. He reiterated his opposition to the proposed dam, stating it should not be constructed at the expense of Tamil Nadu’s interests. He called for the Chief Ministers of both Tamil Nadu and Karnataka to collaborate on a fair solution to the inter-state water dispute, acknowledging Karnataka’s need for drinking water for Bengaluru while emphasizing the need to protect downstream availability.
