K-Citymarket expands mobile scanning service to 60 stores
The K-Ruoka mobile scanning service, ‘Skannaa ja osta’ (Scan and Buy), is expanding to 60 K-Citymarket locations across Finland this autumn. The service allows customers to scan products using their own smartphones during their shopping trip, pack items directly into bags, and pay at either a self-service or traditional checkout.
The expansion follows pilot programs conducted in Vantaa Tammisto, Tripla, Pajala, and Masala. According to K-Group, pilot participants gave the service a satisfaction rating of 4.6 out of 5. Minna Vakkilainen, Kesko’s director of grocery marketing and digital services, noted that the service is designed for ease of use without requiring additional hardware or credentials.
Retailer Kimmo Sivonen, a merchant at K-Citymarket Vantaa Tammisto, stated that the service provides convenience particularly valued by families with children. The mobile scanning feature integrates with the K-Ruoka app, allowing customers to track their total spending in real-time and utilize personal benefits and loyalty cards automatically.
