K-Health Conference 2026 showcases functional food patent technologies

The Korea Agriculture Technology Promotion Agency (KOAT) and the Korea Health Supplements Association held the ‘2026 Excellent Functional Material Patent Technology Briefing and Consultation’ at COEX in Seoul. The event was part of the ‘K-Health Conference 2026’ and focused on facilitating the transfer of patented technologies from the agricultural sector to the health supplement industry.

KOAT identified 15 high-potential technologies developed by the Rural Development Administration, covering medicinal crops, horticultural crops, and food crops. Key research areas presented included black ginseng and turmeric for gut and liver health, Astragalus extracts for cognitive function, and various extracts for hair loss prevention and antioxidant properties. The briefing included 1:1 consultations between inventors and companies to discuss technology transfer procedures and commercialization strategies.

The broader K-Health Conference also addressed global competitiveness, R&D strategies, and regulatory standards. Sessions included presentations on food safety management, export support, and the shifting paradigm toward preventive health management to strengthen the global presence of the Korean health supplement industry.
