K Hospital surgeons treat giant cell bone tumor

A 66-year-old woman was diagnosed with a giant cell tumor in her left tibia after undergoing a routine examination for knee joint issues. Despite the size of the tumor, the patient reported no pain and minimal restriction in movement.

Medical imaging via MRI revealed the lesion at the upper end of the tibia with muscle infiltration. Surgeons at K Hospital performed a complex procedure involving the resection of the affected tibial segment and the upper third of the fibula, followed by the installation of a hinged knee replacement. The surgical goal was to remove the invasive tumor while preserving limb structure and functional mobility.
