K. O. I wins AJL40 with song Tiwikarma

The alternative rap-rock group K. O. I (Konflik of Interest) won the 40th Anugerah Juara Lagu (AJL40) with their song ‘Tiwikarma’. This victory marks a significant moment for the rap and hip-hop genres within the Malaysian music industry, proving the genre's competitive strength at the prestigious awards ceremony.

Lyricist Tuan Nicky, also a member of Floor 88, revealed that the lyrics for ‘Tiwikarma’ were written spontaneously in just 30 minutes on a mobile phone while he was attending a friend's wedding. The song's themes were inspired by the ongoing situation in Palestine, which Nicky noted was a personal stance he holds.

The group, known for their mysterious masked appearances, consists of members Achoi, Mya Nana, Khaza Raflex, Tuan Nicky, and Hemo Globin. The song was composed by Zai Hamzah and Hemo Globin.
