K. T. Rama Rao appears in Hyderabad court over Formula E case
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President and former Telangana minister K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) appeared before the Special Anti‑Corruption Bureau court at Nampally, Hyderabad on 31 July 2026. The court took cognizance of a 77‑page charge sheet alleging that about ₹55 crore was transferred from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) to the London‑based Formula E Operations (FEO) in 2023 without the required Cabinet approval. KTR, then Municipal Administration and Urban Development minister, is accused of instructing officials to facilitate the transfer and is charged under the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Indian Penal Code.
Other accused appearing before the court included senior IAS officer Arvind Kumar, former HMDA chief engineer B. L. N. Reddy, and sports consultant Kiran Malleswara Rao. The court ordered KTR to furnish a bond of ₹1 lakh with two sureties and adjourned the matter to 25 August. No arrests have been made so far, and the case remains a politically sensitive investigation in Telangana.
