K. T. Rama Rao issues legal notice over false passport seizure reports

K. T. Rama Rao, the working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), has issued a legal notice to a prominent Telugu daily for allegedly publishing false reports regarding his passport. The newspaper reportedly claimed that an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) court had ordered the temporary seizure of his passport in connection with a Formula E race case.

Rama Rao’s legal counsel, Advocate N Lalita Reddy, clarified that while an investigating officer filed a memo seeking orders regarding the passport, the special court had not actually issued any seizure orders. The notice demands that the newspaper withdraw the news, publish a clarification with equal prominence, and issue an unconditional apology within 48 hours.

Additionally, the notice noted that the Regional Passport Office had issued a show-cause notice on September 28 under the Passports Act, providing a 15-day window for an explanation, which is distinct from a court-ordered seizure.
