K-water holds memorial for Andong Dam construction workers

K-water's Andong branch held a memorial service on October 2 at Wolyeong Park to honor workers who died during the construction of the Andong Dam. Approximately 50 officials and water resource stakeholders attended the ceremony, which included moments of silence, commemorative speeches, and flower offerings.

The memorial monument for the deceased workers has undergone three relocations to improve accessibility and create a better commemorative environment. Originally located at the Andong Sculpture Park, it was moved to Nakgang Mulgil Park in 2008 and later to the left bank of the dam. It has now been permanently moved to Wolyeong Park to ensure better access for citizens and visitors.

Jo Hyeok-jin, head of the K-water Andong branch, noted that the dam's current benefits, such as flood control and stable water supply, were made possible through the sacrifices of those who worked in hazardous conditions during the 1970s. The agency pledged to continue honoring their dedication and maintaining safe water resource management.
