K2 Ventum to sue Latvian government over wind farm rejection

SIA K2 Ventum has announced plans to take legal action against the Latvian Cabinet of Ministers following the government's decision not to approve the company's proposed wind power plant park. The company alleges that the decision lacks proper legal justification and was reached through significant procedural violations.

K2 Ventum claims that the government substantially altered the draft order on the day of the decision and failed to provide adequate time to review the revised documents. Furthermore, the company reports that its legal representatives were denied entry to the Cabinet meeting, which they argue violates the principles of administrative equality and good governance.

The proposed wind farm project in Pavilosta is a subject of local debate. Supporters argue the project is vital for Latvia's energy independence and could provide approximately 800,000 EUR annually for local infrastructure, such as road paving and school improvements. Conversely, some residents have expressed concerns regarding the project's impact.
