K2PL tank production in Poland to begin ahead of schedule

The assembly of the first K2PL tanks at the Bumar-Łabędy mechanical plants is set to begin four months ahead of the original schedule. Hyundai Rotem Europe President Kyung Tae Kang announced that production is now expected to start in April 2028, rather than August 2028.

During the K2 Partners Day in Warsaw, representatives from the South Korean and Polish defense industries, along with state institutions, discussed accelerating the transfer of technology and increasing the level of 'polonization' within the program. The discussions focused on expanding the role of Polish companies in the production of K2PL tanks and supporting vehicles, as well as developing domestic capabilities for long-term technical fleet support.

Key participants included Hyundai Rotem, Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ), and nine designated Polish partner companies, including HSW, WZ, and PCO. The first K2PL tanks are expected to roll out of Polish facilities in 2029.
