K9 professionals gather in Hyderabad for national training masterclass

Hyderabad is hosting the RRU K9 Masterclass 2026, a national-level training program for India’s K9 professionals. The five-day event, held at Commando Kennels in Kompally, is conducted in association with Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), an institution under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The program brings together K9 commanders, veterinary officers, and handlers from various organizations, including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Border Security Force (BSF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Assam Rifles, and ITBP, as well as state police forces from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and West Bengal.

K9 units play a critical role in India’s security and emergency response, with over 5,200 sniffer and tracker dogs deployed across state and central forces for tasks such as narcotics and explosive detection, search and rescue, and security operations.
