Ka Ying Rising arrives in Sydney for The Everest defense

Trainer David Hayes reports that the champion sprinter Ka Ying Rising has arrived in Sydney in superior condition compared to his journey ahead of last year’s Everest victory. The gelding arrived at the Canterbury Park international quarantine centre following a 16-hour flight from Sha Tin, Hong Kong.

Hayes noted that the horse lost only five kilograms during transit and has maintained a strong appetite and normal vital signs. The trainer believes the six-year-old is at least 10 per cent better than he was at the same stage last year, citing increased strength, size, and experience.

Ka Ying Rising is preparing to defend his title in the $20 million race at Royal Randwick. His next major preparation step is scheduled as a Randwick barrier trial on October 6.
