Kabiru Turaki urges Nigerians to reject vote-buying in 2027 elections
Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, the factional chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Interim National Working Committee, has called on Nigerians to reject vote-buying and inducements ahead of the 2027 general elections. Speaking at the 2nd Bala Mohammed Colloquium in Bauchi, Turaki urged voters to select candidates based on their capacity for quality representation and national development rather than accepting money, food, or other incentives.
Turaki criticized the current state of the legislature, describing it as a weak “rubber stamp” that lacks the effective checks and balances seen in the past. He also advocated for increased political participation among the youth, arguing they should be active participants in governance rather than mere statistics.
In a separate matter, Turaki expressed condolences following a Nigerian Air Force ATR-42 aircraft crash near a naval base in Igbokoda, Ondo State. The incident reportedly resulted in 32 deaths, and Turaki called for a transparent investigation into the cause of the crash.
