Kabuki Star Nakamura Kosaburo and Tokyo Executive Charged Over Hit‑and‑Run Injuries

Kabuki actor Nakamura Kosaburo, 77, was document‑filed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police after allegedly striking a woman in her 20s with his car in Shinjuku on July 9 and fleeing the scene. Police have recommended a "severe punishment" to prosecutors.

In a separate case, a 44‑year‑old company executive from Nerima, Tokyo, who had been diagnosed with sleep‑apnea syndrome, was also document‑filed for causing a severe injury to a woman in her 70s riding a bicycle after falling asleep at the wheel on January 17. Police likewise attached a recommendation for a strict penalty.

Both incidents involve hit‑and‑run accusations and have prompted the police to seek harsh prosecutorial action.
