Kacey Musgraves announces new album Middle of Nowhere Vol. 2: Tex Mex Tapes

American singer-songwriter Kacey Musgraves has announced the release of a new 16-song album titled ‘Middle of Nowhere Vol. 2: Tex Mex Tapes’. Scheduled for release on January 15, 2027, through Lost Highway Records, the project arrives eight months after her previous album, ‘Middle of Nowhere’.

The upcoming collection features 11 new songs and five covers, continuing themes of solitude and contentment while exploring musical connections between Texas and Mexico. Four tracks are performed entirely in Spanish, including a new version of ‘Uncertain, TX’ featuring the group Intocable. The album also includes a cover of Freddy Fender’s ‘Before the Next Teardrop Falls’.

Musgraves is releasing two songs from the project, ‘Weekend In Texas’ and her rendition of the Norteño classic ‘Mi Tesoro’, on October 22. Additionally, the singer holds five nominations for the upcoming CMA Awards, including Album of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year.
