Kacey Musgraves honors Dolly Parton at Madison Square Garden

Kacey Musgraves honored the late country music icon Dolly Parton during her ‘Middle of Nowhere’ tour stop at Madison Square Garden in New York on Monday night. The tribute came one week after Parton’s death at age 80.

Musgraves paused the performance to address the crowd, describing Parton as a ‘supernova of a person’ and a ‘matriarch’ who was akin to royalty. She expressed that her own career would not have been possible without Parton’s influence.

During the set, Musgraves performed her ballad ‘Rainbow,’ a song she previously revealed was inspired by Parton, and provided a cover of Parton’s classic anthem ‘9 to 5.’
