Kacey Musgraves and Kristi Noem clash over political concert guest

Kacey Musgraves Kristi Noem social media feud James Talarico Ella Langley

Country music star Kacey Musgraves and former Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem engaged in a heated social media exchange following a concert appearance by Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico.

The dispute began after Talarico shared photos from his visit to Musgraves’ Dallas concert during her ‘Middle of Nowhere’ tour. Noem reposted the content on X, stating, “I’ll take @ellalangleymusic over Kacey Musgraves any day,” while also expressing support for Republican Senate candidate Ken Paxton over Talarico.

Musgraves responded by referencing a controversial account from Noem’s 2024 memoir, in which the politician described shooting her 14-month-old puppy, Cricket. Musgraves wrote, “I don’t think you have a dog in this fight but if you did you would have shot it.”

In the wake of the exchange, country singer Ella Langley appeared to distance herself from the political friction by removing her tag from Noem’s post. Noem has not issued a direct reply to Musgraves’ comment.
