Kacey Musgraves to perform Dolly Parton tribute at 2026 VMAs

Kacey Musgraves is scheduled to perform a special tribute to the late Dolly Parton at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards. The performance follows the death of Parton, who passed away on August 25 at age 80.

Musgraves, who is nominated for Best Country for ‘Dry Spell’, has a history of honoring Parton, having performed alongside her at previous award shows and dedicating songs to her during recent tour stops in Boston and New York. The 2026 VMAs will also feature a tribute to George Michael by Raye, Sombr, and Teddy Swims, and a performance by Madonna, marking her first VMA appearance in 20 years.
