KADEM Sanat announces winners of Beauty Perceptions photography competition

The Foundation for Women and Democracy (KADEM) Sanat held an award ceremony in Istanbul for its “Beauty Perceptions” photography competition. The contest aimed to critique the standardized beauty ideals imposed by media, advertising, digital platforms, and social expectations, exploring their impact on women's bodies and identities.

Out of more than 1,500 entries submitted by 702 photographers across Turkey, Arif Hüdaverdi Yaman was awarded first place. Hakan Kuyumcu received second place, and Ömer Sarıtaş took third. The ceremony was attended by Istanbul Governor Davut Gül and KADEM Board Chair Canan Sarı.

Canan Sarı emphasized the role of art in supporting women's rights advocacy, noting that KADEM Sanat uses various artistic mediums to address social issues. The platform has previously hosted competitions focused on themes such as migration, women in life, and artificial intelligence.
