Kadin Indonesia targets international trade strengthening for 2027
The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) has established the strengthening of international trade as a primary work target for 2027. According to Bernardino M. Vega-Bianca, Kadin's Vice Chairman for Foreign Relations, the organization is developing new strategies to support national trade through investment, regional cooperation, and economic diplomacy to mitigate the impacts of global geopolitical volatility.
James T. Riady, Kadin's Coordinating Vice Chairman for Foreign Relations, noted that trade agreements and technology from major economies like the United States and China present significant investment opportunities. He specifically highlighted the importance of the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA) in helping Indonesian companies meet international standards and market requirements.
Separately, Kadin Vice Chairman for Industry Saleh Husin expressed support for a proposal by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources to potentially halt gas exports to neighboring countries. Husin stated that prioritizing domestic gas supplies is essential for the recovery of the national industrial sector, ensuring production stability, and enhancing manufacturing competitiveness.
