Kadir İnanır's estate sparks legal dispute among family
The estate of late Turkish cinema legend Kadir İnanır has become the subject of intense legal and familial dispute following his death. Reports indicate that İnanır left a significant inheritance, estimated between 935 million and 1 billion TL, including real estate, luxury collections, and copyrights. His 2022 will reportedly leaves the management of his assets and his intellectual property rights to his long-term partner, Jülide Kural.
Family members are divided regarding the validity of the will. Nephew Levent İnanır has challenged the document, questioning İnanır’s mental capacity and willpower during the period he was receiving heavy medical treatment. He expressed frustration that the family was entirely excluded from the inheritance. In contrast, another nephew, Fırat İnanır, has expressed respect for his uncle’s decision, stating that being the nephew of such a great artist is enough. Other relatives, Hüseyin and Cevahir Önder, have stated they are not pursuing the inheritance but will follow legal outcomes.
Human rights organizations, including the Human Rights Association (İHD) and the Turkish Human Rights Foundation (TİHV), issued a statement expressing honor at being included in İnanır’s will, noting that he left provisions for them to receive parts of his legacy should Kural pass away. Meanwhile, veteran actress Hülya Koçyiğit has called for respect regarding the deceased artist's personal wishes and his decision to leave his estate to his life partner.
