Kadirli residents report inability to afford meat due to rising costs
Residents in the Kadirli district of Osmaniye are reporting significant difficulties accessing basic food items due to rising living costs. Local citizens have expressed that the prices of red meat, poultry, and fish have become prohibitively expensive.
Some individuals noted they have not consumed fish for several years or poultry for over a year. One 78-year-old resident stated they have not eaten meat of any kind for a year due to the economic situation, noting that they now rely on a diet of porridge. Other residents mentioned that red meat is only accessible during religious holidays, such as Eid al-Adha, and that many people in the community are facing similar struggles with food affordability.
