Kadıköy shopkeeper builds unique giant beehive
Fatih Bostan, a grocery store owner in the Feneryolu neighborhood of Kadıköy, Istanbul, has gained local attention for his unique approach to beekeeping. Known locally as ‘Laz Bakkal’, Bostan has maintained a passion for bees since childhood, a tradition inherited from his father.
Bostan has constructed a massive, custom-designed circular beehive that he claims has no equivalent in the world. Due to the unique nature of this structure, he has submitted an application to the Guinness World Records. To protect the bees from freezing during winter, he has even implemented specialized care methods, such as using electric blankets to keep the hive warm.
Rather than selling the honey for profit, Bostan provides it free of charge to the local community. He views himself as a caretaker of the neighborhood's honey, noting that the project is a family endeavor supported by his relatives.
