Nigeria’s Defence Minister and Kaduna Governor Push Education as a Security Tool

Defence Minister General Christopher Musa (ret.) and Kaduna State Governor Senator Uba Sani highlighted education as a key strategy to combat banditry, terrorism and violent extremism in Nigeria. Speaking at the inauguration of the Kaduna Christian Academy – a faith‑based school built by the Department of State Services and private partners – Musa called the school “a weapon of mass instruction” and stressed that lasting security depends on defeating ignorance and hopelessness. Both officials praised President Bola Tinubu’s education reforms and urged communities, faith‑based organisations and the private sector to collaborate in expanding quality education, noting that the government alone cannot fund it. The academy is presented as a non‑kinetic intervention promoting inter‑faith harmony, civic participation and human‑capital development.

The governor reiterated that education strengthens social cohesion and economic prosperity, describing the new facility as a symbol of hope and collective responsibility. He called for partnerships among government, communities, religious groups and private investors to ensure accessible, affordable schooling for every child, arguing that an educated populace is essential for lasting peace and development in Nigeria.
