Kaduna family abducted as kidnappers demand ₦300m ransom
Ahmed Abubakar Zakka, his wife, and their three-month-old infant were abducted from their home in Alrahus Estate, Millennium City, Kaduna State, on October 5, 2026. The kidnappers have reportedly demanded a ransom of ₦300 million for their release.
A video circulated on social media showing the family in captivity, featuring an armed man threatening Zakka. In the footage, Zakka is seen holding his infant daughter while pleading for assistance, stating that the ransom demand is beyond his financial capacity.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and lawmaker Mohammed Bello El-Rufai have called for urgent security intervention to rescue the family. Additionally, the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has appealed to President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Defence to mobilize security forces and coordinate intelligence operations to secure the victims' freedom.
