Kaduna State returns 360,000 children to school through education drive
The Kaduna State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to providing free basic education, characterizing it as a fundamental right rather than a privilege. During the launch of the 2026/2027 School Enrolment Campaign at Sheikh Abubakar Gumi Market, Mubarak Mohammed, Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), emphasized that the administration of Governor Uba Sani aims to ensure all school-aged children have access to education.
Mohammed reported that the state has successfully returned more than 360,000 children to the classroom, a significant reduction from the previous estimate of over 500,000 out-of-school children. To support this influx of students, SUBEB has constructed more than 2,000 new classrooms across the state. The chairman urged parents and guardians to prioritize enrollment, noting that education serves as a vital tool for social mobility.
