Kaduna vigilantes killed and lawmaker's brother abducted
Three members of the Kaduna State Vigilance Service (KADVIS) were killed by gunmen on Monday in the Kubau Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The incident occurred along the Zaria-Pambegua axis while the personnel were conducting routine security checks.
According to KADVIS spokesperson Yunusa Shehu Ibrahim, the attack began when the personnel attempted to stop a red Volkswagen Golf. When the driver refused to halt, the officers pursued the vehicle in an official patrol van. The suspects opened fire, killing Dallami Dantani, the second-in-command of vigilance services in Kubau. The attackers then reportedly drove back toward the KADVIS office, where they fatally shot Abdullahi Hamisu and Zakariyya Musa before fleeing toward Zaria.
Hours after the killings, suspected bandits arrived at a residence in Pambegua in a Sharon vehicle and abducted Sunusi, the younger brother of Shehu Pambegua, a member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly representing the Kubau Constituency.
Kaduna State KADVIS Commander Ali Audu described the deaths as a painful loss and commended the bravery of the deceased. Security forces have reportedly increased surveillance and patrols in Pambegua and surrounding areas to locate the abducted individual and apprehend the perpetrators.
