Kafou denies spitting allegations following suspension

AEL Limassol footballer Kafou has publicly contested a multi-match suspension imposed by the Cyprus Football Association disciplinary committee. The sanction followed a VAR intervention during a match against APOEL, which interpreted an incident as the player spitting at an opponent.

In a social media statement, Kafou denied any intention to insult or target another player. He clarified that the incident involved a piece of chewing gum falling from his mouth and maintained that there was no contact with the opponent. He described the punishment as a lack of respect for his professional career and values, stating, “I am not writing out of resentment... I write because there are moments when we feel our voice is no longer heard.” He emphasized his desire for justice and for his side of the story to be heard.
