Kagawa Gagaku performance scheduled for September in Takamatsu
The Gagaku performance “Kagawa Gagaku: Mid-Autumn Kangen Kabu” is scheduled for September 25, 2026, at Rekizam Hall in Takamatsu. The event features the musical group Reigakusha, which performs both classical and reconstructed ancient Gagaku music.
As part of the “Kagawa Gagaku” project—a collaboration between the Gagaku Association and Rekizam Hall supported by the Agency for Cultural Affairs—the performance aims to make this 1,300-year-old tradition accessible to new audiences. The program includes commentary on the instruments and repertoire, featuring sections of Kangen (instrumental music) and Bugaku (dance music).
To encourage engagement among younger generations, admission is free for individuals aged 25 and under, while general admission is priced at 3,000 yen. The project also includes regional outreach, such as a Gagaku workshop in Mima, Tokushima, on September 20.
