Kagbelen infrastructure projects fail to ease Conakry traffic
In Conakry, Guinea, the Kagbelen bridge project has failed to alleviate traffic congestion due to significant delays on the Kagbelen-Sanoyah section. Even upon completion, heavy traffic is expected to persist because of industrial activity in the area.
Several cement, flour, and sheet metal factories are located along the route, leading to trucks parking between the Georges intersection and the bridge while waiting to be loaded or seeking customers. The presence of a dry port further exacerbates the situation. Additionally, authorities face challenges enforcing prohibitions against occupying road space, with allegations of corruption involving local vendors and police officers.
