Kagiso Rabada discusses South Africa's mindset for 2027 World Cup

South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada stated that the team feels no extra pressure regarding hosting the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup. Speaking at the official venue and brand announcement event in Johannesburg, Rabada described the home advantage as a sense of "freedom" and expressed a desire to "defend this fortress" to secure the team's first 50-over World Cup title.

South Africa will co-host the 14th edition of the tournament alongside Zimbabwe and Namibia. The Proteas enter this period with heightened confidence following recent successes, including winning the ICC World Test Championship in 2025.

Rabada, who participated in the 2019 and 2023 World Cups, also drew inspiration from cricket history, citing Wasim Akram's decisive performance for Pakistan in the 1992 World Cup final as a moment he will never forget.
