Kagome survey reveals high vegetable deficiency despite consumer preference
A survey conducted by Kagome Co., Ltd. involving 4,680 participants in Japan reveals that while over 70% of people express a liking for vegetables, more than 90% of those vegetable lovers are failing to meet the daily recommended intake of 350g.
The primary reasons cited for insufficient vegetable consumption are the time and effort required for preparation. To combat this, approximately 57% of respondents utilize frozen vegetables, with 40% purchasing commercial frozen options like broccoli and nearly 30% freezing vegetables like mushrooms at home.
Regarding preferences among children, tomatoes have ranked as the most liked vegetable for three consecutive years, followed by cucumbers and potatoes. Conversely, bell peppers were identified as the most disliked vegetable among children.
