A 42‑year‑old man in Kahla, Thuringia, attacked two women riding bicycles on a public road. One 64‑year‑old cyclist suffered a severe jaw fracture, a mid‑face fracture and a possible brain haemorrhage, raising concerns of permanent vision loss. The second woman sustained lighter injuries. The assailant, under the influence of alcohol and drugs, also damaged a parked car’s window, bit a police officer in the thigh, and damaged a police response vehicle before being restrained. A court ordered his placement in a psychiatric clinic. Police are investigating for serious bodily injury, assault on officers, property damage and related offences.
