Karapınar Geopark hosts inaugural Jeokamp event
The first Jeokamp event was held as part of the Konya Karapınar Geopark Project, led by the Konya Metropolitan Municipality. The event aimed to promote the natural and geological values of the Karapınar region and highlight its geotourism potential.
Participants included UNESCO representatives, academics, public institution officials, and nature sports communities. The program featured an opening march at Meke Maar accompanied by a cavalry unit, followed by off-road demonstrations, horse safaris, and running activities along the Acıgöl-Meke Maar route. In the Kumullar Region, a desertification combat site, attendees participated in nature walks and photography sessions, alongside ATV demonstrations.
At Acıgöl, the event included water shows and practical search-and-rescue drills to demonstrate response capabilities in challenging natural conditions. Karapınar Mayor İbrahim Önal and District Governor Şenol Öztürk emphasized the importance of preserving this unique geological heritage for future generations.
