Kahramanmaraş August Fair hosts 1.5 million visitors

The Traditional Kahramanmaraş August Fair, organized by the Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality, has seen significant engagement, hosting 1.5 million visitors in its first 20 days. Held at the KAFUM Fair Area, the event features approximately 200 vendors and provides free stalls for 60 female producers to support the local economy.

A major highlight of the fair is the return of the Traditional Karakucak Wrestling Championships after a 26-year hiatus. Organized in cooperation with the Turkish Traditional Wrestling Federation, the tournament saw 538 wrestlers compete across various categories. Doğan Uzun earned the title of head wrestler after defeating Süleyman Karadeniz in the final.

The fair also serves as a cultural hub, hosting various musical and artistic performances. Recent events included a concert by the group Yeni Türkü and a program featuring folk music artist Süleyman Güçlü and poet Mehmet Ercan. The festival aims to revitalize the city's social life and preserve local cultural heritage.
