Kahramanmaraş Castle hosts historical program for local leaders

The Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality organized a historical program at Kahramanmaraş Castle for local neighborhood mukhtars (village/neighborhood heads). During the event, historian and author Mehmet Işık provided insights into the city’s history during the Turkish War of Independence and the castle’s strategic importance in the struggle for independence.

The program included a lecture and a guided tour of the castle, which was recently reopened to visitors on September 16, 2026, following restoration work after sustaining damage in the February 6 earthquakes. The initiative aims to preserve the city’s cultural heritage and strengthen the connection between citizens and historical landmarks.
