Kahramanmaraş hosts 11th International Book Fair
The 11th International Kahramanmaraş Book Fair, organized by the Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality under the theme ‘Come and Notice,’ is currently underway at KAFUM. As Turkey’s first and only UNESCO City of Literature, the city is hosting various intellectuals, authors, and experts to discuss literature, education, and social values.
Featured speakers include academic and author Dr. Halit Ertuğrul, who addressed topics such as family education, youth success, and the impact of social environments on personal development. The event schedule includes interactive sessions with authors such as Kaan Murat Yanık, Canadian writer Jenny Molendyk, Süleyman Arslantaş, Fatih Duman, and poet Ömer Erdem.
In addition to the book fair, Kahramanmaraş is advancing its cultural heritage through the UNESCO Creative Cities Network’s Tandem Project. This initiative fosters inter-city cooperation in fields like literature, gastronomy, and music. Following successful collaborations with Kütahya and Hatay, the project is set to connect Kahramanmaraş’s bardic tradition with the ‘bozlak’ culture of Kırşehir.
