Çeşmeli-Kızkalesi Highway project reaches 98% completion

Turkey's Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure has announced that the Çeşmeli-Erdemli-Silifke-Taşucu Highway project has reached 98 percent physical completion. Specifically, the 52-kilometer Çeşmeli-Kızkalesi section is nearing its end. This project is expected to reduce travel times during the summer season from 2.5 hours to just 18 minutes by diverting transit traffic from existing state roads.

The infrastructure includes 41 kilometers of highway and 11 kilometers of connection roads, featuring 7 tunnels, 5 viaducts, 33 bridges, and 34 underpasses. Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that the project will provide an annual economic saving of 3.038 billion lira, including 2.7 billion lira in time savings and 338 million lira in fuel savings, while reducing carbon emissions by 17,100 tons per year.

Simultaneously, various municipalities across Turkey are conducting local infrastructure improvements. In Malatya, Yeşilyurt Municipality is implementing road renewal and asphalt works. In Kahramanmaraş, KASKI is managing road closures for maintenance, while the Metropolitan Municipality is renewing asphalt in the Şeyh Şamil neighborhood. Other regional updates include road maintenance in Kuşadası, asphalt projects in Bornova, and cleaning operations near Spil Mountain in Manisa.
