Kahramanmaraş officials meet with Galatasaray leadership

Officials from Kahramanmaraş met with Galatasaray Sports Club leadership in Istanbul to discuss ongoing support and sporting ties. Onikişubat Mayor Hanifi Toptaş met with Galatasaray President Dursun Aydın Özbek ahead of a volleyball match between Galatasaray Madeş Mobilya and Akedaş Onikişubat Belediyespor.

During the meeting, discussions focused on the reconstruction efforts in Kahramanmaraş following the February 6 earthquakes. Mayor Toptaş expressed gratitude for the Galatasaray community’s assistance, noting that approximately 30 trucks of aid were sent and housing was provided to over 2,000 citizens in container cities.

President Özbek highlighted a personal connection to the region, stating that his family settled in Kahramanmaraş before moving to Uzbekistan. He emphasized that the club’s commitment to the area extends beyond initial housing construction to ongoing social support during religious holidays and Ramadan.
