Turkey and Cyprus face widespread planned electricity outages
Multiple regions in Turkey and Cyprus are facing planned electricity outages due to scheduled maintenance, network improvements, and infrastructure repairs.
In Turkey, widespread outages are scheduled for various provinces including Sivas, Bolu, Isparta, Denizli, Van, Samsun, İzmir, Trabzon, Bursa, and Gaziantep. These disruptions, managed by local distribution companies such as CEDAŞ, SEDAŞ, and UEDAŞ, are intended to strengthen the electrical grid and ensure occupational safety. Some outages are expected to last up to eight hours, affecting numerous districts and neighborhoods.
In Cyprus, the Kıbrıs Türk Elektrik Kurumu (Kıb-Tek) has announced a six-hour power interruption in Gazimağusa on October 20. The maintenance work on the medium voltage network will affect several areas, including the port authority, various schools, and residential districts, with service expected to resume by 15:00.
