Kahramanmaraş Solar Power Plant enters full production
The Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality's Solar Power Plant (GES) in the Pazarcık Karabıyıklı neighborhood has entered full production. The facility, which was inaugurated on July 18, was built with a total investment of 200 million TL, supported by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.
Spanning 100,000 square meters, the plant features 10,400 double-sided solar panels with a total installed capacity of 6 megawatts. These double-sided panels utilize the albedo effect, capturing sunlight reflected from stones placed on the ground to maximize energy production.
The plant produces an average of 1 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy per month, meeting approximately 60 percent of the municipality's energy needs. This output is equivalent to the monthly electricity consumption of roughly 5,000 households. The project aims to reduce energy costs, decrease reliance on fossil fuels, and strengthen the city's renewable energy infrastructure.
