Kahramanmaraş: Two buildings evacuated after excavation landslide

In Kahramanmaraş, a landslide occurred during foundation excavation work in the Aslanbey neighborhood of the Dulkadiroğlu district. The landslide caused an adjacent building to shake and develop cracks, leading authorities to evacuate two buildings due to the risk of collapse.

The excavation was being conducted to build a new structure on a site where a building had previously been destroyed by an earthquake. Following the incident, the contractor left the site with their materials, while the Dulkadiroğlu Municipality began filling the foundation area with soil using trucks to mitigate the risk.

Local residents expressed frustration, claiming they had previously warned municipal authorities about the dangers of the ongoing excavation. One resident noted that the instability had already caused a road to collapse in late August.
